CS-HD series Boride stone, 120 grit, standard size - 152x25x6mm
(6”x1”x1/4”). The average grain size in the sieving is about 120
microns. This is the coarsest roughing stone in the CS-HD series, it
belongs to the Very Coarse category, and is designed for the initial
stages of roughing when chamfering a new cutting tool, repairs (removal
of notches and chips) and starting sharpening operations. It can be used
as a starting block in the process of abrasive processing. The
recommended grit size for the next CS-HD series Boride stone in the 120
grit stage is 150 grit (ANSI).
The Boride CS-HD series is one of the
few whetstone series produced by Boride that is based on silicon carbide
grit. The Boride CS-HD series has a medium-hard bond and, thanks to the
silicon carbide abrasive grain, works equally well with both carbon and
chromium, high alloy and powder steels. The Boride CS-HD series has
extended recommendations for the hardness of machined steels from the
hardest knife steels to fairly soft stainless steels.
The Boride
CS-HD series works with both oil and water coolants, however, since the
Boride CS-HD series of whetstones is not impregnated, i.e. the
inter-abrasive space is not filled with a special composition that
prevents the products of processing from getting stuck between the
particles of the abrasive (loading). The lubricating fluid during
operation penetrates into the stone. To improve stock removal
performance and comfort, it is recommended to use low density cutting
fluid, water, or specialized cutting fluid from Boride Bori-Lube, in
this case, as a rule, it is preferable to oil. The leveling of the bar
is carried out on glass, on silicon carbide powder. During operation and
when cleaning from salting, the use of household detergents is allowed.
The Boride CS-HD series machine equally well, both hard tool and carbon
steels, and soft chromium steels. The Boride CS-HD range of whetstones
includes whetstones with an abrasive capacity of only the roughing range
of 120, 150, 220, 320, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200 grit in various form
factors - 152x25x6mm (6”x1”x1/4” ), 152x12x6mm (6”x1/2”x1/4”) and
152x25x12mm (6”x1”x1/2”).
