AM-K series Boride stone, 150 grit, standard size - 152x25x6mm (6”x1”x1/4”). The average grain size in the sieving is about 80 microns. Very Coarse stone, designed for mid-stage roughing when chamfering a new cutting tool, repairs (removal of notches and chips) and starting sharpening operations. Can be used either as a starter stone in the blasting process or to remove scratches from the rougher roughing steps. The recommended grit size for the next AM-K series Boride stone in the 150 grit stage is 220 grit (ANSI).
The Boride AM-K series is made of aluminum oxide (single crystal white electrocorundum) on a medium hard ceramic bond. AM-K series stones work well with all types of steels and are designed for all stages of peeling, the formation of supplies, repairs of a blade of medium complexity, as well as the initial and main stages of sharpening. The stone is exceptionally good at removing scratches and damage to metal from rough abrasive stones.
A series of grinding stones Boride AM-K is not impregnated, i.e. the inter-abrasive space is not filled with a special composition that prevents the products of processing from getting stuck between the particles of the abrasive (loading). The manufacturer allows working with coarse rough stones (including grit 220 and below) both with lubricating fluids and without the use of any coolant, i.e. dry. The lubricating fluid during operation penetrates into the stone. To improve stock removal performance and comfort, it is recommended to use low density cutting fluid, water, or specialized cutting fluid from Boride Bori-Lube, in this case, as a rule, it is preferable to oil. The leveling of the bar is carried out on glass, on silicon carbide powder. During operation and when cleaning from salting, the use of household detergents is allowed. The Boride AM-K series of whetstones includes a list of whetstones with various abrasive capacities up to 600 grit. The complete set of the AM-K series includes grits: 100, 150, 180, 220, 320, 400, 600 grit in various form factors - 152x25x6mm (6”x1”x1/4”), 152x12x6mm (6”x1/2”x1/ 4”) and 152x25x12mm (6”x1”x1/2”).
