The name of the wood species is the oriental plane tree (plane tree) (Platanus orientalis L.). The plane tree is a tree up to 50 m high, with a trunk diameter of up to 4 m, usually the trunk is thickened at the base: the crown is powerful, round-spherical. Durable, lives up to 2000 years. It grows in southeastern Europe.
Color: Platan wood from brownish to grayish-white. Density 550 - 850 kg/m³.
Plane wood is of great strength, hardness, bending strength. Resistant to environmental factors. It is well processed by cutting tools, easily gives in to sawing, it is badly painted.
It is used for carpentry and turned products, in furniture production as a finishing material in the form of sliced veneer and for the manufacture of artistic products.
Ideal for making knife handles and hand tools.
