Elbor bar ALDIM on a copper-phenol-formaldehyde (MPF) bond 150mm long, 25mm wide and 3mm thick is pasted on an aluminum blank with dimensions of 160x25x4mm with dovetail ends. The bar is filled with abrasive throughout the volume. The grit size of the 125/100 µm bar is intended for starting peeling processes. The copper-phenol-formaldehyde bond is intermediate in hardness between an organic and a metal bond. Therefore, it ideally levels out the shortcomings of a soft organic (phenol-formaldehyde) binder in the peeling area and a hard copper-tin bond in the finishing area. Thus, occupying a middle position in terms of hardness between organic and metallic bonds, MFF successfully covers all stages of sharpening with one set and does not require a transition to other types of abrasives in the process.
