One of the rarest, hardest and finest working Arkansas stones is the Hard Black Translucent on an apex sharpener blank. This stone actually works thinner than the regular white Arkansas Translucent and much harder than it. In order to appreciate the density of this stone, it is enough to say that it is much more difficult to saw than, for example, ceramics from Spyderco.
