A small sharpener on ceramic rods type "Bone" from the American company Idahone is designed to quickly sharpen and edit knives both at home and outdoors or while traveling. The sharpener has an overall size of 124x51x16mm, easily and comfortably fits in your hand during sharpening. The ceramic rods of the sharpener are 85mm in length and 7.5mm in diameter. These sizes are sufficient to sharpen most knives used in the kitchen or outside the home. The sharpener has two rods of different abrasive ability - gray (Medium) with a grain size of about 500 grit and white (Fine) - about 1200 grit (according to the American ANSI system). Sharpening on the rods is carried out until a burr is formed on the side opposite to the machined inlet, first on a coarse gray rod, and then on a fine-grained white rod.
The ceramics from which the “Kostochka” sharpener rods are made are practically not subject to wear during normal use, but the rods need to be cleaned. During sharpening, your rods will accumulate the remains of small metal chips (loaded). When sharpening, you can choose a clean area of ceramic on the surface of the rods. You can use Idahone's Superaser Cleaning Eraser to remove buildup and restore the sharpener's abrasiveness, or simply wash the ceramic with any household abrasive cleaner.
