The set of white aluminum oxide sharpening stones includes five stones in 240, 400, 600, 800 and 1500 grit respectively.
The stone geometry has a standard form factor for the holders of most sharpeners such as Hapstone, Apex, Ganzo, etc. (6" x 1" x 0.5"), namely 150x25x10mm.
The stones have a well-leveled working surface, do not require pre-finishing and are ready to work. The bond of all five bars from the set is magnesian. Those. these are classic water stones - before use, they must be soaked in water (for 5-10 minutes). Readiness for work can be checked by dropping a drop of water on the work surface - the water should drain, not be absorbed. In the course of work, the surface of the stone is moistened from time to time with water or a soapy solution so that the suspension formed on the surface of the stone is of the desired consistency. At the initial stages of the formation of supplies and sharpening, the presence of free and semi-bound grain in suspension significantly increases the productivity of the process. At the finishing stage, in order to obtain more precise control over the finishing operations, it is better to remove the suspension from the surface of the stone, if possible.
THESE ABRASIVE STONES ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR WORKING WITH ANY TYPE OF OILS (HONING, COOLANT, REFINED, ETC.)
Abrasive products that have a magnesian component in their bond cannot be stored in water, as this will lead to their destruction. Fast drying is also not recommended, the stone may crack. After use, the bars should be washed in warm soapy water (you can use light household detergent abrasive suspensions, pastes or powders) and using a brush. Then wipe and dry on a napkin.
It is better to store stones in a wooden (unpainted and unvarnished) organizer.
The magnesia bond is a rather soft bond, the bars based on it have good surface renewal, self-sharpening and are slightly salted even when working with steels, which are characterized by an increased ability to contaminate the abrasive surface. If it is necessary to level the stone (restoring the flatness of the working surface) or renew ("refresh") the upper layer of the abrasive - this is done on a stele (mirror, granite / cast iron slab or other even and hard surface) using silicon carbide powder of the appropriate fraction.
The stone is soaked before leveling, as well as before grinding, silicon carbide powder is poured onto the glass, a little water and liquid soap are added to improve process control.
The movement of the stone on the glass during the leveling process is carried out by a figure eight in order to remove the stone material evenly over the entire working surface. Additional characteristics: Size: 150x25x10 mm;
Abrasive grain material – electrocorundum white;
Grit of stones in the set: 240, 400, 600, 800, 1200 grit;
Bundle - magnesian
