The glass surface platform is designed to be used with honing pastes and cutting slurries. The dimensions of the working surface are 207x70mm, which corresponds to the dimensions of full-size grinding stones. A 12mm thick artificial stone base allows you to install the platform when working in a standard holder for sharpening stones. A platform with a glass surface is recommended to be used both with abrasive pastes, for example, diamond or elbor (grain size 10 microns and below), and Hlad's tumbling slurries (grain size from F400 to F1200). The platform can be matted with F600 grit silicon carbide powder before use. On the matted surface of the platform, you can induce a suspension with any slurs and nagura on a natural or synthetic basis. Also, the platform with a glass surface can be used for gluing polishing films. The platform with a glass surface is an inexpensive, multifunctional and extremely effective tool for sharpening and finishing operations when sharpening manually or sharpening carpentry tools using wheel-type sharpeners (for example, sharpening Veritas Mk. II Honing Guide systems). Also, the advantage of this type of sharpening is a very wide range of processed steels in terms of hardness. Processing of very hard metals is exceptionally effective, since sharpening is carried out practically on a free abrasive, sparingly, without damaging the carbide structure of hypereutectoid steels. At the same time, the distortion of the geometry of the working surface of the platform is very insignificant.
