The MAFFALO Maxi-smart Lapping Plate 2.0 diamond plate will suit cooks, woodworkers and knife owners. With its help, craftsmen will restore a flat and smooth surface of water stones for sharpening.
The plate is made of AISI 316 stainless steel, therefore it is resistant to heat and deformation, does not rust when interacting with water. The surface of the Maxi-smart Lapping Plate is coated with Effi-Arc grooved diamond abrasive. They collect slag and stably prevent water sealing during stone leveling.
The weight of the plate is about 2 kg. Dimensions - 240 x 105 x 10 mm (9.4" x 4.1" x 0.4") - covers a variety of grindstone sizes. The 180 grit / 91 micron grit will allow craftsmen to level stones in the 400 to 10,000 grit range.
The package includes a silicone tactile mat for placing the plate and preventing slippage on the installation surface. How to use Maxi-smart Lapping Plate
For the process you will need: a grinding water stone, running water, a pencil, a diamond breaker (for a new plate).
Step 1. We measure. When a stone ceases to sharpen knives with high quality, we determine its flatness by eye or with the help of a ruler. The surface of the stone is in poor condition if there is a gap between it and the edge of the ruler through which a sheet of paper can be pushed.
Step 2. Soak and label. Soak the stone in water for 10-15 minutes until the bubbles disappear. After soaking, draw a "grid" on the surface of the stone with a pencil. In the process, it will be erased and show the areas needed for alignment.
Step 3. Align. Lay the stone on the surface of the Maxi-smart Lapping Plate and rub them together under running water back and forth. From time to time we interrupt to check the "grid". Once it disappears, the process is complete.
WARNING: There may be large diamond particles on the surface of a new plate. To protect the stones from scratches and remove these particles, we wipe the slab with a diamond breaker for 2 minutes.
Step 4. Clean and dry. Thoroughly wash and dry the diamond plate on a towel. The stone is ready for sharpening new tools, knives and blades
