The production of synthetic abrasives for fine finishing sharpening operations is associated with a number of objective difficulties. They are associated with many factors that arise when working with fine-grained abrasives. For example, one of them is the effect of the bar bond on the sharpening process - with a grain size of less than 3 microns, conventional bonds can have an effect on the workpiece material comparable to the effect of the abrasive itself. Therefore, it is necessary to add various components to the bundle of high grit bars, leveling this effect, which significantly affects the cost of the product and the quality of processing. Sharpening on a free abrasive, when an abrasive powder (or an aqueous / oil suspension based on it) is applied to the working surface of a lap - cast iron, brass, glass, composite, wood, etc. - devoid of such shortcomings. However, despite this, powdered fine-grained abrasive for ultra-fine finishing still, as a rule, contains many different additives, sometimes making up more than half of its volume.

These supplements include:

- surface-active substances (surfactants) that have a chemical effect on the metal oxides of the workpiece being processed;
- baking powder, preventing caking of the powder;
- adsorbents that improve the wettability of abrasive particles with various liquids - water, oil, organic solvents, catalysts and surfactants;
- particles that collect metal chips and sludge on their surface due to the electrostatic effect and thereby enhance the cutting properties of the abrasive grain itself, etc.

3V TM Porcelain Corundum Micro Powder is an aluminum oxide polishing powder for superfinishing the cutting edge of a knife, as well as fine polishing of metal surfaces - this is one of the best materials for obtaining an ultra-clean finishing.

Processing on such an abrasive gives a much cleaner surface than on finishing stones of the same grit. For example, finishing on this powder gives a finer risk and, accordingly, a higher surface finish than after the abrasive stone SHAPTON Pro 12000 grit.

The diameter of the equivalent sphere of the particles included in the composition is less than 2 µm (the average particle diameter is 1.4 µm, the minimum particle diameter is 0.5 µm).
Loss in weight when calcining the powder of porcelain corundum at a temperature of 550 degrees Celsius for 1 hour is less than 0.5%, which indicates an extremely low content of contaminants. The pH level of suspensions based on porcelain corundum powder can range from 5.5 to 7.0, i.e. the powder can be used on laps based on compounds that are unstable to an alkaline environment, for example, based on phenol-formaldehyde resins. Bulk density of powder from ceramic corundum - 330 kg / m.cub. Oil absorption (the amount of adsorbed oil) ranges from 55 to 65 g per 100 g. powder. The value of DOP absorption, which shows the adsorption characteristic with respect to surfactants, is also within the same limits.
