Sharpening system Veritas Mk. II Honing Guide is the latest development of Veritas (Canada) specialists, which makes it easy, without much experience (but with a high degree of repeatability of the result), to effectively sharpen carpentry tools such as chisels, planer irons, etc. The sharpener is perfect for both beginners and professionals. The main difference of the Mk.II version is the built-in blade sharpening angle setting system, which in one simple step allows you to precisely set the desired bevel angle using the included template.

The range of sharpening angles that can be set on this gurney is from 15 to 54 degrees. The Veritas Mk.II Honing Guide sharpening system allows you to install a cutting tool with a width of 13 to 73 mm and a thickness of up to 6.5 mm, both conventional (with plane-parallel planes) and wedge-shaped.
In front of the device there is a lever for coarse setting the angle of inclination of the tool being sharpened, which has three different positions for three ranges of angles (large, standard and back chamfer angles), marked with color and numbers.
1. High-angle range (25 ° to 54 °)

3. Back-bevel range (10 ° to 20 °)
The Veritas Mk.II Honing Guide is equipped with a bronze roller with a special eccentric that allows you to accurately microadjust to a given angle. In working condition, the mark made on the roller screw (which is the mode switch of the device) should be set vertically upwards (at 12 o'clock). The first, smallest micro-approach angle is realized when the eccentric is turned to the left (at 9 o'clock). The second, larger angle is set by turning the roller mark to the right (3 o'clock). The largest microbevel angle can be made by turning the pointer down (at 6 o'clock).
